PHASE 3: Major Facilities Gift

Understanding the Facilities Challenge

  • By their 5th year, new churches need to transition from temporary spaces into permanent facilities.

  • People begin asking themselves, “will this ever become a real church?”

  • People leave the church as fast as new guests come in.

  • The cost is prohibitive and keeps churches stuck.

Testimony from our President

It’s time to get young churches out of the desert.

In 2016 my family planted Local Church in Marietta, OH. We started with tremendous momentum, but it didn't take long for us to get stuck. We bounced around from schools, to wedding venues, to business parks to hold our Sunday services. By our 5th year we were 400 people in attendance and seeing huge numbers of people turning to Christ. But we were stuck in too small of a building. We had to run three services, which is doable for a large church, but at our attendance size it was burning our people out. This is when I learned the overwhelming struggle church planters face when they attempt to buy or build a facility. It feels like being stuck in a desert.

In 2023 we found an ideal building to renovate. It was an old bowling alley in our town that had closed down. But then we learned how expensive building renovations can be. We kicked off a capital campaign and raised $575,000 in the next three years.

Today our church thriving, but still not in that renovated bowling alley. We're stuck at 400 in attendance. Why? Well it’s not because we lack visionary leadership, or because the Spirit of God is absent in our church. We're stalled in our attendance because our facility is holding us back.

When I took over leadership of the 99 Network I was determined to solve this problem for church plants. Our dream is to provide major facilities gifts to young churches so they can scale and grow.
